Meet the teachers and staff of First Lutheran School, a Christian elementary school serving families in Benton, Arkansas.
Anne Barnard
Anne teaches our kindergarten class. Anne graduated from Concordia University, Ann Arbor and has been a Lutheran school teacher for seventeen years. She is wife to Sean and mother to Charlie and Michael. In her free time Anne loves to go camping, do baking, and is an avid reader.
Frances Bacic
Frances teaches our first, second, and third grade class with an aid. She graduated with a bachelors degree from Concordia University, Ann Arbor and has been teaching ever since. Frances has taught every grade from preschool through algebra 1 and has taught in Kansas, Michigan, Indiana, and Arkansas. Frances enjoys listening to and performing instrumental and vocal music. She also enjoys crafts of all types including fabric, glass, and beads. She is married to Ronald, and together they have two grown sons, Ian and Derek.
Sollie Jones
Sollie teaches our fourth and fifth grade class. She graduated with a bachelors degree in mass communications from Ouchita Baptist University in 2020 and earned her master’s of education at Williams Baptist University in 2025. Sollie has taught at another Christian school for four years, and she has done missions work in Alaska. We are excited to have Sollie join our team.

James Burns
Acting Principal, Chapel Leader, and Pastor of First Lutheran Church.
Pastor Burns was ordained in 1990, and has been the pastor at First Lutheran Church in Benton since 2002. Before that, he served congregations in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and in Lafayette, Indiana. In addition, he was a chaplain in the Army National Guard for twelve years.
Pastor Burns has a B.S. in Physics from California State University, Bakersfield, an M.Div from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, and a J.D. from the Bowen School of Law in Little Rock.
Pastor Burns is married to Anne, his high school sweetheart. Together they raised two sons, Jack and Stephen. They have two grandchildren as well.
